The Voyagers are preparing for their final 12 games of the season, all taking place inside Voyagers Stadium. The final homestand starts Tuesday, August 27th at 7 PM for a six-gamer against the Paddleheads. This will be the final series between these two teams. The Voyagers struggled against Missoula in earlier parts of the season, but they were able to take 5 of 6 games in their last meeting with the squad. The Voyagers are currently 5.5 games out of second place for the playoffs, behind Boise and Yolo, and need to finish the season really strong if they want a taste of the postseason.
The boys in green and red are fresh off a 3-3 series tie at Dehler Park against the Billings Mustangs. The window of opportunity is closing for the Voyagers, and they will certainly be tested in the final two series, as they play two of the best teams in the Pioneer League this season in the Paddleheads and the Boise Hawks.
The Hawks had a red hot start to the second half of the season, going 18-3 in their first 21 games. However, the team has struggled a lot since then, going 4-11 in their recent 15 games. Great Falls is 8-4 in their last two series, and will need to keep up that pace at the least to get a chance at the playoffs.
The Voyagers pitching and defense have been on fire as of late. The Voyagers haven?t given up double digit runs since August 7th against Ogden, and have sported a 5.15 ERA since that date. CJ Czerwinski finished off last series with a masterful performance, going 8 innings, giving up just two hits and one earned run, while striking out 12 batters. Great Falls will have to maintain performances of this level to keep making a playoff push in the final 12 games of the season.
